Privacy Policy for Rutin

At Rutin, we believe your family’s data belongs to you. This Privacy Policy describes how your information is handled when you use the Rutin mobile application ("the App"). Unlike many other apps, Rutin is designed to work offline and shared directly between family members without a central server.

1. Information Collection and Use

Local Data Storage

All data you create in Rutin—including family member names, routine titles, task descriptions, completion history, and motivational texts—is stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this data.

Personal Data

We do not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or link a phone number to use the App. Your "Member Profile" (name and avatar selection) stays on your device and the devices of family members you choose to sync with.

2. Peer-to-Peer Synchronization (P2P)

Rutin features a local synchronization system that allows family members to share routines.

• Direct Sharing: Data is exchanged directly between devices using Bluetooth and/or local Wi-Fi via Google Nearby Connections.
• No Central Server: Your family routines and task completions are never uploaded to our servers or any cloud storage managed by us.
• End-to-End Control: You choose which devices to "Trust" and link with.

3. Required Permissions

To provide its core features, the App requests the following permissions:

• Bluetooth & Nearby Devices: Required to discover and connect to other family members' devices for synchronization.
• Location Services: On Android, Google requires Location Services to be enabled for Bluetooth scanning. We do not track, collect, or share your GPS coordinates.
• Notifications: Used to send you reminders for your routines and tasks.
• Storage/Media: Used if you choose to set a custom profile photo (depending on your OS version).

4. Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of trusted third-party services to improve your experience:

• Google Play Services: Used for the "Nearby Connections" framework (P2P Sync).
• Google Fonts: Used to provide a consistent and modern typography within the app interface.
• App Store/Google Play Billing: If you choose to support the app via a subscription or one-time purchase, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We do not see your credit card or billing information.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Since your data is stored locally, it remains on your device until:

• You delete a specific item (routine, task, or motivation) within the App.
• You uninstall the App.
• You clear the App's storage/cache in your phone settings.

To completely "wipe" your data, simply uninstall the App from your device and ensure your family members do the same if you have synced with them.

6. Children’s Privacy

Rutin is designed for families. Because we do not collect personal data on a central server, we do not knowingly collect or maintain personally identifiable information from children under 13 (or any age).

7. Choices and Contact

Because we do not have a database of users, we cannot "export" or "delete" your data for you—you have full control over it on your own device.
